# Rozgar Mela: A Milestone in Employment Generation

On May 16, 2023, In a major boost to employment generation in India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually distributed about 71,000 appointment letters to newly inducted recruits under the Rozgar Mela initiative on Tuesday. The Rozgar Mela is an event where job seekers and employers come together at one place and explore various opportunities across different sectors and domains.

The new recruits, who were selected from all over the country, will join various positions and posts in Central Government Departments as well as State Governments/UTs that support this initiative. Some of the posts include Gramin Dak Sevaks, Inspector of Posts, Commercial-cum-Ticket Clerk, Junior clerk-cum-Typist, Junior Accounts Clerk, Track Maintainer, Assistant Section Officer, Lower Division Clerk, Sub Divisional Officer, Tax Assistants, Principal, Trained Graduate Teacher, Assistant Registrar, Assistant Professor, among others.

The Prime Minister addressed the new recruits via video conferencing and congratulated them on their achievements. He also praised the reforms brought in the recruitment systems that have made them more transparent, merit-based and corruption-free. He said that these reforms have ensured that the youth get the right opportunities according to their talent and potential.

He also urged the new recruits to train themselves further through the Karmayogi Prarambh, which is an online orientation course for all new appointees in various government departments. He said that this course will help them to learn about the vision, values and work culture of the government and enable them to serve the nation better.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the various initiatives taken by the government to boost employment and skill development in the country. He said that in the last two years, over 4.5 crore people have got formal jobs as per EPFO data. He also said that Rs 34 trillion have been invested in capital expenditure and basic facilities in the last seven years to create more opportunities for the youth. He mentioned the electrification of 40,000 km of rail lines, the expansion of metro rail network and the improved connectivity of rural areas due to road construction as some of the examples of such initiatives.

He also emphasized on the importance of self-reliance and innovation for achieving national development. He said that India has become a global leader in sectors like renewable energy, digital technology and space exploration due to its talent and creativity. He encouraged the new recruits to contribute to these sectors and make India a world-class economy.

The Prime Minister concluded his address by motivating the new recruits to work hard and dedicate themselves to their duties. He said that they have a great responsibility to fulfil the aspirations of 130 crore Indians and make them proud. He said that they are not only joining a job but also becoming a part of a mission to transform India.
